Equine-Assisted Therapy
Healing Hearts with Horses
Along with traditional therapy approaches, we are an experiential counseling facility that provides clinically sound therapeutic interventions utilizing equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) and equine-assisted learning (EAL).
This service is currently offered as a partnership with recovery centers and other local businesses in a group setting.
Why Equine Therapy?
Equine-assisted psychotherapy (EAP) and equine-assisted learning (EAL) is a collaborative effort between a mental health professional and an equine specialist in cooperation with the horse and the client/group. This professional approach to counseling and learning allows clients of all ages to address behavioral, emotional, spiritual, and relationship issues using horses as an intervention tool. This setting is also ideal for promoting self-growth and developing interpersonal and leadership skills.
All therapeutic work is done from the ground and there is no horsemanship required (we are a non-riding program.) Our equine partners are at liberty to interact with group participants as they choose, often feeding off of the emotions exhibited during the session. We often draw parallels between horse behavior and the experiences and reactions of humans as they work through life’s challenges.
We are proud of the group equine therapy work we are currently doing at multiple Residential Co-occurring Facilities. We serve approximately 50+ clients a week in this format and are seeing amazing results. Our program also offers a great opportunity for businesses to host skill-building workshops and learning opportunities for their employees.
